The staff took care of all of our needs.
Our stay came with unexpected challenges. The lack of beach access was quite frustrating, as we anticipated enjoying the ocean. Instead, we found ourselves relying on water taxis to reach any sand. Additionally, the trails from the hotel did not provide the immersive jungle experience we were hoping for, which left us feeling a bit let down.

Encountering a sloth up close
La Loma Jungle Lodge was like stepping into a nature documentary. I enjoyed a serene lunch when Ariel pointed out a sloth lazily hanging from a branch, making my day unforgettable.
As a solo traveler, some tours required minimum participants, which was disappointing. I mostly relied on the free kayak and hiking trails since I couldn't join group activities.

I found joy in the chocolate tour and learned about the cacao trees. Each morning started with warm coffee delivered to my door as I soaked in the jungle sounds. I enjoyed the calm and simplicity of living close to nature. It felt refreshing to wake up every day surrounded by wildlife. My partner and I loved the shared dinners with freshly prepared dishes. Our hosts really understood hospitality, making us feel welcome.
Occasional insects appeared in the open space of the bungalow. Some activities had minimum group size requirements.

We had an amazing time exploring the area and taking in the views. The sunset cruise was a highlight, complete with a bottle of wine. Don't miss the farm tour—it really shows the unique charm of this place! Grab a yoga class, too, if you can.
The steep hike up to our room was pretty tough after a long day exploring, but the views made it worth it once we arrived.

Staying in the King Treetop Bungalow at La Loma Jungle Lodge was something special. Waking up to the sounds of the jungle was like living in a nature documentary. The bed faced huge views of lush greenery, and fresh cacao tea was delivered to my door each morning. The open-air design of the bungalow allowed us to feel truly part of the outdoors, though I did notice some larger bugs during our stay, particularly in common areas. We're not fans of insects, but the spacious mosquito net around the bed provided peace of mind at night. Meals were a highlight. Every dish was delicious, showcasing fresh, local ingredients. The restaurant staff paid great attention to detail, making every meal a memorable experience. The kayak trips and cacao farm tours added adventure to our time. However, beach access wasn't ideal. We often relied on water taxis to explore the island, which was a bit frustrating. Some activities required minimum participants, which limited our options for exploring. Still, I appreciated the tranquility of the lodge and the inviting atmosphere created by the staff.

Experiencing the vibrant jungle life from the treehouse bungalow was extraordinary, with monkeys playfully swinging nearby. The guided farm tour was both informative and enjoyable, showcasing sustainable practices and fresh local ingredients. Though the open structure of the bungalow allowed for great immersion in nature, it also meant sharing the space with some larger insects. Limited beach access often required dependance on water taxis for exploration, which felt inconvenient at times. Dining was a highlight, as each meal was crafted from seasonal vegetables and local recipes, making every meal feel special.
